We view karate as a means for developing skills for life; our program develops healthy lifestyle habits through regular exercise, self motivation, focus and confidence. Through training in karate you will learn respect for yourself and for others, key components of a happy healthy lifestyle.
The karate ranking system is a natural way of developing leaders, the responsibility of the senior belts to provide a good example and to help the lower belts is an important component of karate and forms an important part of developing the leadership skills that will see you become a strong leader and take control of your life.
Self Confidence is a wonderful thing. You stand taller, you look better and you achieve more. With great self confidence no challenge will be to big for you.
Through the study of Chito-Ryu karate you will become more confident in yourself as you realise just what you can achieve. During the classes you will be constantly amazed at what is possible with a little bit of hard work and the encouragement to try.
Discipline & Respect
As a traditional style of karate discipline and respect are a key aspect of each class. Respect for the instructor, senior students and each other is developed throughout the class, this attitude carries through into life.
Discipline is a big issue in modern society. At Gold Coast Chito-Ryu you learn self-discipline, with self-discipline comes the ability to push yourself harder to obtain your goals. Through self-discipline a child will learn to control his/her behaviour for reasons that they want and know are right not just because they have been told to.
Combined with the respect learnt during classes the study of traditional karate at Gold Coast Chito-Ryu helps develops important skills for life.
Health & Fitness
Karate is a great way to improve health and fitness. Karate utilises all the muscles in the body as well as providing a great aerobic workout.
Through the proper study of karate you develop stronger joints, build core strength, develop increased lung capacity and can trim off excess fat. Most important of all, you will develop healthy habits to maintain a healthy active life well into the future.
Posture & Coordination
There are many health and psychological benefits of a correct posture. A correct posture enures the channels are open and the body can function correctly. With a correct posture comes increased self-confidence. Through the study of Chito-Ryu karate you will build the core strength that holds the body in the correct alignment.
When studying in karate you use all the muscles of the body, both left and right. By striking targets and by working together with fellow students you learn muscle control and increased co-ordination. With juniors, games are also incorporated to make motor skills development a fun experience.
Karate is a method of self-defence. It was developed in a time were there could be a need to defend yourself or your loved ones at any moment. We are fortunate enough to live in a time where the need to constantly defend ourselves has deminished but there are still those times when the self defence skills are required.
At Gold Coast Chito-Ryu we teach skills that will allow you to remove yourself from a potentially dangerous situation without harm.
By the development of self-confidence you will find the situation requiring the self-defence skills are less, this is especially the case with children who find with self-confidence they do not need to “prove” themself.
If a situation arises, the ability to remain calm as learnt during the classes allows you to talk or find a way out of the situation before it esculates to violence.
And as a last resort if the situation becomes critical and can not be resolved in any other way Gold Coast Chito-Ryu will teach you the skills required to defend yourself and your loved ones.
Gold Coast Chito-Ryu teaches sports karate and particpates in sports karate tournaments. By participating in sports karate the participant learns important skills valuable for life. Sport teaches you how to perform under pressure, dealing with winning and losing, goal setting, team work and much more. At Gold Chito-Ryu we incorporate all these life skills into the training program whilst making sure that in the end it all remains fun.
With karate looking to become part of the olympics for those with the desire to take their sports karate further there is no limits.
